Treasure in the Grass

June 16, 2009

In the Zelda games, whenever Link needs health or magic, he can simply cut down grass/roll into a tree/dig in the ground to find hearts and potion jars. Tabletop gaming systems generally have no rules for this because characters regain health and magic on their own by resting, which has no place in Zelda.

If the SM wishes, he can convert these goodies over to d20 rules by allowing characters to find apples and bananas in grass and trees. Have the character pick high or low and roll percentile dice. If the player wins, roll 1d4 for number of apples found and 1d4 for number of bananas found.
